295Hp version based on the 2008 Mercedes C-Class
17th November 2008
2008 Mercedes C-Class Tuning Part III; following Lorisner’s and Brabus’ propositions, here comes Carlsson with a spiced-up version of the C350. Thanks to Carlsson’s performance kit the stock 3.5 V6 delivers now 295Hp (up from 272) thus shaving 4 tenths of a second in the 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) sprint (CK35: 6,0 sec vs C350: 6,4 sec) while the top speed of the CK35 is 270 km/h – 168mph. Carlsson also fitted an aerodynamic kit to the C-Class that consists of a front apron, a diffuser-look apron at the rear, side mouldings and a rear spoiler.
We won’t bore you much with this one, as I’m sure you’ve taken enough doses of C-Class over the previous months. We’ll just inform you that the only difference we spotted between the Euro and US spec C-Class are the extra turning-signals on the front bumpers – despite Mercedes USA CEO, Ernst Lieb’s talk about distinct styling cues for the US version in an interview he gave to Automotive News (sub. Required) in February. The new C-Class will be launched in the US this fall where it will be available with three V6-powered models – the C350 Sport (3.5 V6 268Hp) , the C300 Luxury and Sport (3.0 V6 228Hp). The latter will also be offered in all-wheel-drive guises.
AMG’s 40th Anniversary is celebrated by two new presentations at the New York show, the CL65 AMG that we showed you a few days ago and the CLK 63 AMG Black Series. Based on the official F1 Safety Car the Black Series features a heap of goodies like the aerodynamic bodykit, upgraded suspension, larger front composite brakes and bucket-type seats covered in barely inflammable nylon velour.
Moreover, the Black Series receives an engine upgrade. Mercedes-AMG engineers completely redesigning the intake and exhaust systems of the stock 481Hp 6,0-liter V8 thus rising output to 507Hp / 373 kW. Mercedes claims that the CLK 63 AMG Black Series accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds – thus 0.3 seconds faster than the standard model while the top speed (electronically limited) is 300 km/h. -
What a heart-breaking sight for all car-nuts. This corroded Pagode was discovered lying peacefully on the bed of Neckar River in Germany when some folks decided to take her up. Now the once sassy 230 SL rests in peace at the headquarters of SL Club Pagode, based in Germany.
Nearly a decade after Mercedes premiered the coupe & roadster Vision SLR Concepts which was followed by the production version of the SLR McLaren Coupe, the German company has finally decided to put the roadster into production. Mercedes has already confirmed that the SLR McLaren Roadster will be unveiled this summer with the first cars being delivered to their owners in early 2008 and these are the first production-ready pictures of the car, courtesy of Caranddriver.
Don’t get any weird ideas now; there’re other ways you can resolve your problems –theoretically speaking of course… According to Chosun, the 47-year-old from Seoul named Kim was quite pissed with his cell-phone carrier, SK for not fixing his Samsung-phone. After …16 phone-calls and two visits to the company’s headquarters he decided to try his luck once again by visiting the SK offices. Kim parked the Mercedes S500 (which by the way was registered under the name of a friend), right in front of SK’s building and put signs on the windshields that said “Delinquent SK”. But before he managed to go in the building the security guard caught up with him and asked him to move the car. And that’s exactly what Kim did; he moved the car into the building!
Yep, it’s another “sport edition” and guess what? Don’t be shocked but, it gets an AMG bodykit with front and rear aprons, side skirts, 18-inch alloy wheels (front 225/40 R 18, rear 255/35 R18) and a sport exhaust tailpipe on the outside and black upholstery, sport pedals and velour floor mats with silver-colored edging in the inside! Totally insane isn’t? Before we let you check out the image gallery and the press-release, let us inform you that the “Sport Edition” package in only available for AVANTGARDE variants of the CLK models and it costs 3.332 Euro / 4.533 USD.
Unlike other rumours and renderings we’ve been seen lately, the C63 AMG is really coming to a Mercedes outlet near you either this fall or early 2008. AutoMotorundSport not only managed to scoop the top-end C-Class performing test runs in Germany but they also came up with a rendering giving us a preview of the car.
What; an ASMA without a Darth Vader grille? Oh come on, that’s so, so disappointing. I guess ASMA’s latest Mercedes S-Class bodykit is addressed towards a more subtlety-bad-tasted crowd. But there’s no need to worry as all who which to make a fashion/taste statement through their ride ASMA is still offering the “Eagle I” S-Class pacage.
Mercedes just unleashed the long-awaited SLR McLaren Roadster which will go on sale from September 2007. Like the 1999 Vision SLR concept on which it’s based, the production version of the SLR McLaren Roadster retains the scissor-type doors of its coupe counterpart. Unlike the SL and SLK roadsters, the SLR features a retractable soft-top which is available in three different colors. The roof opens and closes semi-automatically in less than ten seconds, with the driver having to a little “dirty” work by unlocking the roof from the windscreen frame and briefly raising it, after which it folds away electrically. We have to say that, while we love the SLR McLaren Roadster’s appearance with the top down, we’re not so enthusiastic about the cars looks when its roof on.
